The Renewal Clock
Start nine months early.
Your next ServiceNow renewal may change your tier and your AI costs. A report and checklist for the people who answer for it.
The Renewal Clock: 12 pages and a checklist. From GCC Now™, the ServiceNow Accelerator by ANSR × inMorphis, for leaders of global capability centers (GCCs) and GBS organizations on ServiceNow, and the CIOs who sponsor them.
What changed
According to licensing advisers (Redress Compliance, Jun 24, 2026), legacy ServiceNow reached end of sale on Jul 1, 2026, with conversion to Foundation, Advanced and Prime at renewal. That date comes from licensing advisers, and ServiceNow may describe it differently.
Assists are consumed at 1 for a simple skill and 25 or more for agentic flows, from a contracted pool with a 365-day burn-down. AI on ServiceNow now has a meter, and someone has to own it.
Why nine months
Evidence takes time. A baseline needs finance's signature, a license picture needs usage data, and an assist forecast needs months of real consumption. Start late and you'll negotiate on someone else's numbers.
The checklist, in short
- 1
Find the renewal date and your current edition or tier.
- 2
Name one owner for the assist pool, and read how much has been used.
- 3
Check what your tier already includes before anyone scopes a purchase.
- 4
Compare license use with what you hold, role by role.
- 5
Count every AI agent, and include external agents that act in ServiceNow.
- 6
Separate development and sub-production assist use from production use.
- 7
Put ServiceNow vendor run cost per ticket on the same page.
- 8
Get finance to sign the baseline.
- 9
Write the brief nine months out, and take it to your sponsor.
